We Should All Be Great Pyrenees
To understand this political climate, perhaps an explanation of the Great Pyrenees temperament is in order.
Met with an annoyance, a Pyr will stand up and walk away instead of engaging. This is for the safety of all involved as you do not want to threaten this breed or that which it protects.
They're known as passive guarders. They lie there observing amongst the family or flock. If a threat comes near, their first course of action is to bark, thus driving it away.
From there the barking escalates.
If the threat persists, the full force of these dogs is unleashed. There are countless stories of a single Pyr protecting against an entire pack of coyotes. The dog comes back with scrapes and a perhaps a few wounds. The coyotes see a much more final fate.
This is why the Pyr will avoid confrontation at all costs. It does not want the fight to escalate to loss of life. It is only when danger pushes it past its breaking point that it will engage.
This dynamic is what I see happening on the political Right.
