To Be Misunderstood Is Universal
Division is being ramped up. Again.
We're seeing the latest weapon in the sectioning of “us versus them.” Divide people enough and not only are we fractions of ourselves, we’re existentially lonely believing that no one is like us. When we break people down by gender and race and sexuality and political class and fiscal opportunity and geography and each individual belief they hold, our world fractures. Intentionally.
We as a populous become easier to control. Frantic. Frenetic. Despondent. Focused on our differences instead of the points of connection. We’re seeking ways to be othered instead of recognizing that everyone feels like an outcast at times. That’s the human condition. That’s the nature of the individual.
What would happen if curiosity were welcomed again? The ability to ask questions. The desire to truly listen. The grace to not understand. I will never fully comprehend your life, nor you mine. This is not a shortcoming. This is to be human.
Stop looking externally for validation. It doesn’t live out there. That is simply a reflection of what is happening within you. Learn to support your own individual needs. The world is never going to be tailored to you. It’s not inclusive. That’s just fine. When we finally realize that, we are free.
